Oakland Acres Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Grinnell, Iowa.
The first 9 holes opened for play on July 1, 1963. In the early 1970’s, 80 Acres to the East of the original 9 hole course was purchased. In 1973 the second 9 holes opened. The course was designed owners and brothers, Cliff and Cloyd Thompson.
After Cliff and Cloyd retired, the golf course changed hands several times. In 2012, Larry and Jim Heishman purchased Oakland Acres. They started implementing immediate upgrades. In 2012 they demolished the old cart shed and built new and improved cart shed in its place. In 2013 a new clubhouse was built and the old one was demolished. New equipment was purchased, cart paths were put in, and landscaping was done on multiple tee boxes. They continue to maintain and improve the course each year.
Par for the course is 69. From the back tees, the course plays to 5,968 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,060 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 6, a par-5 that plays to 471 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 96 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 8, a 447-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Oakland Acres is # 17, the 96 yard par-3.
